Should Be Sleeping is an Alliance guild on Mannoroth-US, with a focus on PvE content. Most of our members/officers have been raiding together (in different guilds) for over two years. Most recently, SBS merged with members of <Rainbow Coalition> in order to strengthen both guilds' raiding roster for Cataclysm.

Our attitude is that of a "medium-core" progression guild; meaning, we strive to clear all content but do so in a semi-relaxed atmosphere and with a limited amount of raiding time. I use the word "semi-relaxed' because even though we value raiding with friends and having fun, our main priority is clearing content. The bottom line is: if you fuck up every once in a while, we laugh; if you fuck up frequently, we do not. That latter part might be an understatement.

As you may have noticed, our guild roster is fairly small (minus the fact that we all have 20 alts) -- and we like it that way. There's no point in recruiting many players if they will not be of any use to us or we won't be of any use to them. So we do not have "back-up" raiders. We do, however, accept friends and family, since this is - first and foremost - a game.

Having a small guild also allows us the versatility to schedule raids according to the availability of our raiders. So we have no set raiding schedule. Instead, we make a weekly thread where people post their availability and based on that we make a raid schedule for the week. The Availability thread is usually up on the forums every Friday night or Saturday morning and the finalized schedule is usually on the gmotd/forums/ginfo by Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

During WotLK we used a DKP loot system but later opted for a loot-council system. As of now, we have not yet to decided what loot system we will utilize for Cataclysm. Will update accordingly.

If you have any questions feel free to message Lunavere/Avaloria, Twinklletoes/Relani, Eggsaladin/Vampurity, or one of our other officers.

Happy Raiding!

Progression and Logistics:

Cataclysm:

WotLK:
ICC10 - 12/12.
H ICC10 - 12/12
ICC25 - 11/12

Raid schedule - Varies based on availability / TBD

About <Should Be Sleeping>, Application format Empty Expectations

Post  EggSAladin Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:08 pm

Expecations:

1. Knowledge - This includes knowing your class/spec(s) and being willing to research the best talent choices/glyphs/rotation/gems, especially when new patches that affect your class are released. We are not interested in players that just started playing their class/spec and "achieved" a X-k gearscore after a long week of grinding. We want people that are comfortable with their class and that constantly challenge themselves to pull better numbers. In other words, prospective members must have an "intellectual" (as intellectual as WoW can be) curiosity in their class and must constantly seek to improve their performance through research, spreadsheets, etc.

2. Dedication - We expect our members to show up to at least 80% of our raids. No flexibility here. Our raiding schedule only allows us several hours a week to clear content, so we value our raid nights. Not meeting this requirement will probably get you replaced. Members are also expected to be online 15 to 20 minutes prior to raid time and must be ready for the first pull at the scheduled time. Again, we do not raid for many hours, so do not waste our progression time. During raid times, members are also expected to be FOCUSED and must keep AFKs to a minimum.

3. Positive Attitude and an Open Mind - Most, if not all, of our members have a relaxed/chill attitude. When we recruit, we seek other people that are compatible with us. Assholes, people with Volkswagen sized egos, etc, will not do well in our guild and are discouraged from applying; for every egotistical asshole, there is another equally-skilled player, so I would rather wait for them to apply rather than deal with difficult individuals.

We also require our members to be patient and understanding. Wipes will happen. We will get stuck on bosses. People will mess up. This is all perfectly normal when working on progression.

Also, you MUST be mature. This has nothing to do with age: we have some very mature young people in our guild and in the past, we have had some very immature adults. Maturity entails understanding that any constructive criticism that is offered to you is for your own benefit and not to humiliate or belittle you. On a similar note, we frequently joke around during raids (and on vent/gchat when we're not raiding) with subject matters that some may consider offensive. If you cannot take a joke or if you have a problem with crude humor, you might not feel comfortable in our guild.

To finalize this very long category I just want to say: keep drama out of raids or you will be kept out of them. If you have problems with anything/anyone, talk to one of the officers to see how it may be resolved. We'd like to think we're pretty reasonable people and, when valid, your concerns interest us.

4. The ability to follow directions and communicate effectively - I could have placed this under any of the other categories but it truly merits its own. You must be able to follow directions. It is our belief that WoW is relatively simple but is made complicated by the human factor. Having people that don't pay attention and don't follow directions will make a complicated fight seem impossible. If you enjoy doing your own thing, zoning out, tunnel visioning, or if you pay little to no attention to the RL when he/she is assigning roles, then this is truly not the guild for you.

FAIL-PROOF INSTRUCTIONS THAT YOU MUST READ/FOLLOW PRIOR TO APPLYING:

PLEASE, DON'T BE ON OF THE 9,001 PEOPLE WHO HAVE FAILED AT READING/FOLLOWING THESE FAIL PROOF INSTRUCTIONS. AND YES, CAPS LOCK = NECESSARY HERE.

1. Before applying make sure you have read the rest of the information posted on this thread.

2. Also, be sure to REGISTER on our forums. The whole process takes a painstaking 30 seconds and requires you to enter a user name and an email address. (Your forum user-name must be your main toon's name, or I will probably not approve it because I won't know who you are.)

3. Start a new post and copy and paste the application guidelines from below. Your application's title must follow the following format: "Name of your toon" / Class / Preferred Spec. For example, my post's title would be: "Eggsaladin / Paladin / Protection."

5. Answer the questions as thoroughly as possible.

We expect our members to show up to at least 80% of our raids. Would this be a problem for you? :

During raids, do you ever need to go AFK for prolonged periods of time? :

What guilds were you previously in and why did you choose to leave? :

Do you have anyone in Should Be Sleeping that can vouch for you? If so state their name and ask them to talk to one of the officers or have him/her post a reply to your application. :

Have you read and understood the rest of this thread ("About <SBS>", "Expectations", "Loot System", et al )? :

Feel free to add anything else that you would like us to know about you. Message Twinklletoes, Lunavere, or Eggsaladin in-game if you have any questions. Expect a response in 1-2 days. We (or any other guild member) may ask you follow-up questions, please be prepared to answer these as thoroughly as you answered these questions.

Other things to keep in mind: Is your gear enchanted? Also, be sure to log off with your PvE gear so that when we look up your toon in the armory it displays your correct set of gear.
